One day about three weeks ago I was out side with my kids – which is to say I was supposed to be watching my kids. However, this day I noticed one of the two sunflowers my kids planted was opening up. I had never seen a sunflower in the middle of opening up before so I grabbed my sketchbook and started to rough this out. Well my wife was wise enough to remind me, “Hey! I’m supposed to be watching the kids.” She was right. I was supposed to be watching the kids. So I put this away. I’ve only tinkered with it here and there in my head. Sadly the sunflower is now gone. However, my roughed out sketch remained so this past week I started picking at it again, and tonight I finished it. I hope you like it.

It’s beautiful! Almost looks like an eye in the center also. 🙂

True. I hadn’t looked at it that way. There should probably be less contrast between the two center areas. Oh well. It’s done now. Time to move on.
